I have worked with Maria in the past. Being a quadriplegic I needed her help in doing everything to get me through my day. She has always had the ability to touch one's heart with a special type of energy. I now practice mindfulness online with Maria. She guides me through meditation and helps me to allow and create feelings of acceptance and peace.
A year ago Maria opened her own yoga studio on Bath Rd and I am enjoying the cozy warm atmoshere that she has created there now. Having her own studio has allowed her to spread her wings and offer a great variety of classes as well as yoga therapy, reflexology etc.
Maria is very perceptive and sees what is going on in the body very quickly. Her great hands can sooth the aches and stiffness so well.

Following diagnosis of a torn shoulder ligament and unsuccessful visits to a physiotherapist, I attended Maria’s yoga ‘shoulder’ therapy classes. Prior to seeing Maria, shoulder pain persisted for more than a year, so I wasn’t optimistic about a quick heal. After about 2-3 months with Maria’s guidance, my shoulder is now functioning at 100% to what it was. I plan to continue with Maria for continued shoulder health and maintenance and highly recommend Maria and Health Yoga to others!
I have also met with Maria for Personal Yoga Therapy. With guidance on gentle movements as well as natural healing advice from Maria, my knee is also functioning as it was prior to an injury.
Maria’s Restorative Yoga is as healing as her other modalities. I enjoy attending as a 'Nana and grand-daughter outing’. I would encourage anyone to explore any or all of Maria’s offerings. Her knowledge, attention to detail and holistic approach will serve you well. Namaste.
Maria's years of studying comes through in her classes. She has helped me with my physical issues better than any physiotherapist I have seen for many years. Maria has calming and relaxing classes bringing spirituality and awareness. I would highly recommend her and have told many friends.

I was referred to Maria by a neighbour. I met with her for treatment for my chronic myofascial pain which had ramped up during late winter. We made an instant connection. Maria is a very hands-on therapist who goes above and beyond. She is very knowledgeable and goes about her treatment plan with a methodical approach, working to make adjustments to the body to ease the pain. I also received two reflexology treatments. I am so in awe of these treatments and the total relaxation provided. I have never experienced such a feeling with any other mode of treatment. I have no reservations about recommending Maria's services.

In the ten weeks that I have known Maria from Health Yoga, my life has transformed completely. I was wheelchair shopping and discussing with Veterans Affairs about how I might make my home more wheelchair accessible. The daily pain from my joints and muscles was unbearable unless I took dangerous doses of a steroid called prednisone. The doctors had given me a diagnosis of Lupus but they were quick to admit that it was not likely Lupus but what was going on acted a lot like Lupus so that’s how they were treating it. It was unknown and it was killing me and they really seemed powerless to help.
I met with Maria after visiting her website and seeing that people with some similar problems had been helped by her. After our first meeting, I was surprised that she was confident that she could help me. I didn’t share her confidence. It had been a 20 year descent into constant pain and exhaustion. The doctors had largely just been trying to manage my pain at this point and I was pretty hopeless about any meaningful recovery. Maria had enough confidence for both of us and I am forever grateful for that.
Over a ten week period she guided me back into contact with my body and feelings and with her help, I correctly identified the source of my major health woes and began a program that is leading to a full recovery. My life was small and full of pain and now, while I still work to undo the years of damage, I move relatively freely and have much reduced pain. As I continue to learn and practise yoga with Maria, I continue to improve. I have complete faith that the path I am on with Health Yoga will lead to a complete recovery.
I am extremely fortunate to have met Maria Mitea, the owner of Health Yoga. For more than a year I suffered with lower back pain. Work with physiotherapists over the same period of time led to moderate results in my healing process. After just three individual sessions with Maria and a month of classes, I can report that I am pain free. I continue to attend yoga sessions to further strenghen the muscles that support my back and to learn relaxation tecniques. As a result, I have much more energy during the day and I am sleeping well again. Maria's expertise and her kind attention to her client's needs are adding so much to my overall enjoyment of life.
I was referred to Maria by my partner after having a second hip surgery . Most , if not all hip replacement recipients limp after surgery due to the muscles being cut & I was no exception . The three physiotherapy sessions allowed by OHIP were a good start in recovery but a far cry as to what was actually needed . Maria's assessed me & took over my recovery . Her attention to detail is second to none . She obviously has an engineering background & seems to understand all muscle & bone movements . This is beyond anything I have ever experienced . You would almost think she had X-ray vision to see how the muscles are moving & what is needed to strengthen the weaker ones . Within weeks ; I was being told that I no longer limped & anyone who knows me , admit I have made a marked improvement . The woman is amazing at her chosen profession . I worked with Maria for Hip Replacement Recovery. I used a cane to attend my first sessions. After 3 sessions with Maria I didn’t need the cane. I recommend Maria’s Yoga Therapy practice to everyone that goes trough Hip Replacement for easy recovery. You will build confidence and specifically work on the muscle you need to strengthen. You will also work with compensative muscles, balance and alignment. I am greatful for working with Maria and the results I have attained. I strongly recommend Maria’s Yoga Therapy practice.

I also did a reflexology session and a reflexology/deep massage session with Maria. This was the first time I had done reflexology. I was experiencing numbness in the middle & index finger of my hand. Neither massage or physiotherapy had helped much but after just one reflexology session there was a significant improvement.
The second session was to address a flair up I had with plantar fasciitis. It was a combination of deep tissue massage and reflexology. After just one treatment the symptoms disappeared. Maria also gave me a number of stretches and exercises to do in order to prevent a reoccurrence of the problem.
I would highly recommend Health Yoga.
Maria is an amazing instructor with an Ayurveda background that equips her to be an insightful and well rounded teacher. Her studio reflects her positive energy and playful nature encouraging a relaxed and balancing experience for both the beginner and the experienced Yogi.
5 stars are seriously not enough! Maria at Health Yoga deserves SO much more than that. The private classes are always challenging but light-hearted, motivational but grounding, introspective and simply just led by an amazing instructor.. I cannot thank you enough Maria for opening up a whole new side of myself that I was not in tune with.
Maria has been of a great support to me in the last months. I am dealing with Fibromalgia, and 18 months ago I had open heart surgery. I also deal with Asthma and Sleep Apnea. The benefits I experience from YTpractice with Maria is my confidence greatly increased. I am more aware about how I am breathing. We created together a nutrition plan I am following now, and feeling great. The practice is effortless and engaging at the same time. I recommended the YT practice to everyone that is looking to coop with Fibromalgia and other health conditions.
I took yoga therapy for sciatica with Maria and she suggested that I would benefit from her sciatica classes. Currently I attend her Monday yoga for sciatica and I am thrilled with the results in just weeks. Fabulous and gifted yoga instructor who meets each student warmly and inclusively where ever they are in their yoga practice. She has great insights into the mind body connection. I met Maria through my Aunt who is a regular participant at Maria's classes! Whenever I come to Kingston I come to visit because she spends the time and energy working with me on restoring my body. I am a nurse and I have many areas that are tight, and she allows me to understand what areas I need to work on and how to improve them. I have some painful areas in my back, and she had helped me discover how I am compensating, and how to strengthen certain weak parts.
She shows me how to take care of my body and build a routine to connect with my body, prevent problems, and decrease my stress. She is absolutely wonderful!
I participated in only one session of a couple of months with Maria for chair yoga. Her knowledge and attention is by far the best i’ve ever experienced. She takes into account your limitations and attends to your needs.
I hope to return in the fall to continue.
I started with Maria at Heath yoga, because I had a pinch nerve in my neck give me Intense pain down my arm. Maria is very knowledgeable an after about 5 one on ones she had me pretty much back to normal I highly recommend Heath yoga

I tried power yoga with Maria this summer and I highly recommend it. The class is a rather fast pace. I like instructor's "do it right" approach - she is very helpful on explaining and correcting her studens.
